THE PROBLEM

Long-distance relationships can lack the intimacy of closer relationships. The products, services, and apps currently on the market address other areas of the relationship, but not physical touch- one of the biggest obstacles long-distance couples face.

Over the course of the first five weeks, my team and I conducted interviews, focus groups, cultural probe kits, and a survey to collect data in order to develop a better experience for people in Long Distance Relationships. In the second five weeks we condensed our data to form Fruitful: an app and a smart jacket to help nurture and grow long-distance relationships.

WHY IT MATTERS

Relationships can be hard, but they're even harder when you're far apart. There are plenty of stories of long-distance couples that have succeeded, but even more who couldn't make it. In a time where technology makes everything so easily accessible, why can't it help make long-distance love last?
 

THE CONCEPT

The Fruitful app and LDR Smart Jacket bridge the gap between couples by providing a more intimate connection and helping grow and nurture the relationship. The jacket was inspired by the two things most associated with comfort- warmth and pressure.
